Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) in Cats

Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) is a non- curable and contagious virus among cats. It’s highly recommended to keep new cats separated from previous pets to avoid the spread of FIV. This virus is most commonly transmitted through a bite. Getting cats tested for FIV is a good idea to make sure your cat is FIV free. FIV positive cats should be kept indoors and away from other cats. This article goes over how its transmitted, how to test for it, prevention precautions, and management for a FIV positive cat.
